Italian (L2)

By Eugenia Mascherpa

Italian as a second language is no longer a niche language for those who have an interest in art and music, but it has become the language of immigration. The immigrates ask for language courses, school offices wish to improve the training of the teachers who will have to welcome and lead the foreign students in the study of and in Italian, the universities are attended always more by foreign students.

In this view, the priority is the research and continuous experimentation of methods and activities which can contribute to improve the quality of the services offered by the University Language Centre in University of Calabria.

The Language Centre provides Italian courses for the students enrolled in our University, covering the entire academic year. Furthermore, it is possible to obtain the Italian Language Certificate issued by the Siena University for Foreigners (CILS exam), during the months of December and June.

The language courses are also open to apprentices of the master's degree in Didactics of Italian and to the final year students who want to prepare a graduation thesis about the acquisition of Italian as a second language (directed by prof. Anna De Marco).
